Policy for Macdonald Center


The Macdonald Center is located in 231 Curry Building and is available for use for special functions, meetings, dissertations defenses, and other events.  Kathryn Kale keeps a book in her office for reserving the MacDonald Center.  She should be contacted if you are interested in using the Center.

MacDonald Center Policy

Uses:

A. The MacDonald Center should be restricted to special events which are primarily academic rather than social.  Examples of academic events that involve School of  Education faculty, include:

- doctoral dissertation defenses
- colloquia and special seminars involving visitors and honored guests
- colloquia and special seminars involving School of Education faculty
- department committees chaired by School of Education faculty (if Ferguson 231, 232, or 248 are not available.)

B. Meetings held in Macdonald Center should be for small groups anticipated to be approximately 25 or less. The reserving party will be responsible for set-up of the room and return to it's original arrangement immediately following the activity.

C. Student groups sponsoring an academic event must have a faculty sponsor to reserve the room and be responsible for the condition of the room after the event.

D. It is possible to schedule events with food.  The person who reserves the room is responsible for clean up immediately after the group meets.  If there are any abuses of the    clean-up policy, the group will lose its privileges.  Cleaning materials are to be provided by departments for tidying up.

E. The Center should be regarded as a School resource and is not be available to the general campus community.

Scheduling:

The room is available only by reservations.

B. A short request form must be completed listing:  the faculty member responsible for the event and the dates requested.

C. In order to keep the room available for non-routine meetings, the room should not be scheduled any more than 2 months in advance.
