Reasearch/Area of Interest:
The interface of spirituality, religion and counseling practice is my primary research interest. The broader question of how people draw meaning from their lives in times of struggle is of real interst to me. I am . I guess I am a bit of a philosopher it that respect.
Biography:
J. Scott Young, Ph.D., NCC, LPC is Professor and Chair in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was a professor for 12 years at Mississippi State University, and, in addition, has been a practicing counselor in private practice, agency and hospital settings for over 15 years. His leadership in the field of counseling includes service as president of the Association for Spiritual Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling and member of the Governing Council and Executive Committee for the American Counseling Association.
Scott is co-editor of the book Integrating Spirituality into Counseling: A Guide to Competent Practice and the forthcoming text Counseling Research: Quantitative, Qualitative, and Single Subject Design. He has published numerous articles on the interface of clinical practice with spirituality and religion, and has received awards for his work. Scott received his degrees from University of North Carolina at Charlotte (B.S.) and University of North Carolina at Greensboro (M.Ed., Ph.D.) Scott is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He is married to Sara DeHart-Young who is also a licensed counselor and registered art therapist, as well as an instructor of Psychology. He and Sara are the parents of two daughters- Savannah and Sophie.

Favorite Movie
This is a difficult question as there aren’t many movies that I think are really good. I did enjoy “No Country for Old Men” which was out recently. I know it was a dark movie but I thought it was quite good.
