LIS/CUI 120 Course

The objectives of this course are:

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems. NETS-T IA
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of common input and output devices, solve routine hardware and software problems, and make informed choices about technology systems, resources, and services. NETS-T IA
  • Identify, select, and use technology resources to increase productivity, promote creativity, and meet specific teaching and learning objectives. NETS-T VC
  • Use content specific tools to support learning and research. NETS-T IIIA
  • Identify the benefits of technology to maximize student learning and use it to facilitate higher order thinking skills and real world problem solving. NETS-T IIIC
  • Use technology to locate, evaluate, manage, and communicate information from a variety of sources. NETS-T IVB
  • Use technology tools to collect, analyze, interpret, represent, and communicate student performance data. NETS-T IVC
  • Evaluate and select new information resources and technological innovations based on their appropriateness to specific tasks. NET-T IIC
  • Use a variety of media and formats, including telecommunications, to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and other audiences. NETS-T VD
  • Identify technology resources available in schools and analyze how accessibility to those resources affects planning for instruction. NETS-T IIC
  • Plan ways to continue growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. NETS-T IB

As we investigate the importance of using instructional technology in the classroom, you will understand how these powerful tools can enhance teaching and learning. You will begin to see its potential for impacting education and the role of the teacher. Our focus will be on how to integrate technology into our teaching, the importance of planning, and how to use technology to accomplish your instructional goals.

LIS 120:

There are seven sections offered each Fall and Spring semester, and four during Summer1. Classes are limited to 25.

CUI 120:

This course is offered to elementary CPT students only. It is offered Spring semester each year.
