Fall 2008 Registration Information

Registration is just around the corner and it is time to see your advisor to plan your fall (& summer if applicable) 2008 schedule! The School of Education Advising Center uses a Web-based Advising System to schedule advising appointments.  Students meet with their academic advisor in group sessions for course planning/registration and general advising concerns.

The Advising System is located at the following URL:  https://library.uncg.edu/adv/edu/sec-login.asp   .
Your e-mail application may allow you to click or double-click on the URL to access the Advising System. Otherwise, copy the URL and paste it into your browser's address or location bar.

The Advising System will prompt you to input a User ID and password.  Your User ID is your nine-digit University ID number. Your password is the first three letters of your last name, followed by the last four digits of your University ID number.  For example, if your name is Felicia Jones and your University ID number is 980-00-4321, then your password for the Advising System would be jon4321.

The Advising System is now available for you to make an appointment.  You must schedule an appointment 24 hours in advance.  If you are unable to schedule an appointment on the system, then the session is full or it is less than 24 hours until that appointment time, you will need to select another advising session to attend.

Each session will last one hour.  Please come prepared to ensure a smooth and timely session.  You will be issued your advising code once you have completed advising. Course planning/registration appointments with your advisor are available beginning Wednesday, March 19, 2008.

***You can attend any session for pre-registration but will not be permitted to officially register for courses until your Registration Access Window opens.  Actual registration dates are based on your classification by hours (freshman, sophomore, etc.), which is determined by the Registrar’s Office.  You will receive your access dates via email from the Registrar’s Office or check UNCGenie.

To insure a successful advising session, it is really important for you to do some preparation.    It is absolutely critical that you remember to bring the following to your advising appointment:

  • A printed copy of your Degree Evaluation. To create an evaluation:
  • Login to UNCGenie using your student ID number and PIN
  • Click on Student Services and Financial Aid
  • Click on Student Records
  • Click on Degree Evaluation
  • Enter the Term (Spring 2008) and click Submit
  • Click on "Generate New Evaluation"
  • Activate (click) the radio button beside your program. Select the term
  • Click on "Generate Request" button
  • Select the "Detail Requirements" display option to view the degree evaluation
  • Print a copy of the evaluation to bring to advising
  • Your tentative schedule of classes for Fall & Summer (if applicable) 2008 (with alternate courses)
  • Look at the concentration choices in the Teacher’s Handbook ( Go to http://www.uncg.edu/soe/newsite/sarc/index.html and click on Handbook) and what courses are required.  Print out those concentration pages and bring those with you.

Please remember to bring an updated printed copy of your degree evaluation to your advising appointment because there will not be an updated copy in your folder.

Please contact our office (School of Education Advising Center) for any registration assistance at 336-334-3410. We look forward to seeing you after a fun and safe Spring Break!
