Professional Development
Professional development is one means to help retain educators in the profession by strengthening the knowledge and skills needed to work in 21st century schools. The UNCG School of Education is increasing its efforts to visit with districts, identify needs, and offer support for professional development. Mutually beneficial are professional development opportunities that meet school districts' needs as well as support research conducted by university faculty.

The School of Education publishes a Professional Development Directory each year. The directory includes UNCG faculty who have interest in providing support to school districts. In addition, the School of Education plans and conducts workshops, conferences, and symposia based on identified needs of area school districts.
“The University of North Carolina at Greensboro takes seriously its commitment to improve education. To this end, the UNCG School of Education has established a Professional Development Network. As part of our commitment, we will offer professional development workshops and seminars for our school partners on selected topics. We also will assist with developing classroom leaders and mentors, initially licensed teachers, and administrators."
