ETAP students at the 2007 Children's Festival and
Health Celebration/Fallfest Parade.
"ETAP is a truly unique opportunity to gain first-hand field experience while thinking deeply about teaching and what it means to provide a 'good education.' Under the guidance of experienced teacher-mentors from the UNCG School of Education faculty, you examine and discuss different understandings of the value and purpose of education, consider the special challenges and opportunities facing schools today, and explore different possibilities for meaningful careers in education. At the same time, you meet and make friends with other students who share your interests, receive personal attention and support from your instructor, participate in study skills, career development and diversity workshops, go on field experiences in the public schools and have some fun in the process."
-Dr. John Sopper, Director, Grogan College Learning Communities Program
"Students in UNS 105 will explore teaching as a profession while examining their own desires to enter the field of education. They will be challenged to articulate and enact what they believe while faced with the many social and political factors impacting today's schools and children. Teachers are entrusted with our most precious resources, our youth. We must recognize our ability to make a positive difference and seize the opportunity!"
-Misti W. Williams, Ed.D. ETAP Faculty Fellow, School of Education, Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations
"Grogan College gives students a jump start for their major in education. They meet people that they will work with throughout their time in college and can use their early connections for great networking further down the road." "
-Jennifer Wright, Peer Academic Leader (PAL), Elementary Education Major
"I look forward to working with a School of Education faculty fellow, the Grogan College Director, and ETAP students. My role is to plan Teacher Education Connection events to help connect ETAP students with the UNCG campus and other teacher education students."
