SOE Town Meeting

Two town meetings will be held this year to assist you in “navigating the university system and advocating for yourself”. The fall town meeting is designed as an interactive session where School of Education advisors offer advice on how to avoid pitfalls as a first-time freshman or transfer student. The spring session will focus on “what worked, what didn’t, and what else you need to know to be successful” on your journey to becoming a teacher. Take ACTION and come to these two very important meetings.

Children's Festival & Health Celebration

Join the NC Teaching Fellows, the Curry Education Society, and many other campus organizations in welcoming thousands of children and their families to our campus. The annual event is a part of UNCG FallFest and a part of Spartan Village. Pre-education and education majors are invited to participate by setting up a booth with an educational activity for children of all ages. E-mail cesd@uncg.edu to reserve a booth!

UNCG alumna, Molly McAllister, is only a few years into her profession as an elementary teacher, but she has a wealth of knowledge to share with students aspiring to become a teacher. Join Molly as she sharees her story about teaching for the New York City Public Schools in inner city New York. Come learn from Molly as she gives advice on teacher preparation at UNCG and succeeding as a beginning teacher in a high needs school.

Join Dr. José Villalba, a Teaching Excellence Professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development, as he offers an informal discussion with students on the very important topic of “who are the student’s in today’s classroom.”
