Hands-on Experiences

"UNCG has given me the opportunity to meet new people, learn new things, and have many hands-on experiences. I have enjoyed volunteering with HorsePower, a therapeutic riding program, and being an intern at different schools. My internship at Brightwood Elementary School was an awesome experience. I especially enjoyed working with the lead teacher, Ms. Shaw, and interacting with the individual students."

A Call to Teach

"For the past 10 years I have been working at a group home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I love the work that I do, and it seemed logical for me to pursue a degree in special education. I look forward to helping people with special learning needs, especially children with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities."

Key Teacher Qualities

"Throughout my years in school I have had several wonderful teachers who were caring, compassionate, patient, and inspirational; key qualities a teacher should have. These are qualities I hope to bring to the students I will teach."
