"UNCG really is the #1 school for teacher education in North Carolina, and that is reflected in the cutting edge classes they offer. The methods courses really help me understand the different ways of teaching and the challenges that I may face when I become an educator and have my own classroom. As a Teaching Fellow, we do a lot of hands-on and interactive activities that help us learn about teaching."
A Call to Teach Young Children
" I was originally going to teach at the middle school level, but after my internship at Peck Elementary School in Greensboro, NC, I decided to change my major to elementary education. I want to teach elementary education because I believe that we as educators can have a big and positive impact on young children. I want to give children a solid foundation that they can take with them throughout their schooling."
My Number One Inspiration
"The teacher that inspired me to become an educator was my high school English teacher. Her classroom was very relaxed and inviting. There were sofas throughout the classroom, as well as desks, and she even played music. Her classes were always fun, but she also challenged her students to reach their highest potential. I knew that if I was going to become a teacher, that I would want to be a cool teacher like her. All of her current and past students come by and see her to hang out, talk, and laugh. She is an amazing teacher, which is why she has received the Teacher of the Year award every year; she is really just that great."
