Notes

I currently serve as the Director of the School of Education Student Advising Center and Teaching Fellows. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with K-6 certification from UNCG and later earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from NC A&T State University. I have worked in public and private schools serving in various capacities including a classroom teacher, curriculum facilitator, and director. I have also taught several courses in two local community colleges.

I am happily married and have two beautiful children. I enjoy scrapbooking, sitting on the beach with a good book, and doing outdoor activities with my family. I love watching sports, particularly professional football.

It is such a joy and an honor to return to my alma mater to serve and to be a part of the great tradition of education here at UNCG.

BA - UNCG - Intermediate Education
MS - University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State
University - Curriculum and Instruction (Instructional
Technology and Design)
PhD - UNCG - Curriculum and Instruction

Research interests: - equity education to include: community-based learning in pre-service teacher education, and secondary school reform

Before UNCG: I was a middle school language arts and social studies teacher in Alamance County, NC and in Memphis, TN. I was also an instructor and assistant professor in the Department of Education at Bennett College in Greensboro. I have worked with the PAL (Piedmont Alternative Licensure Program) at Greensboro College. I've worked with hundreds of teachers in staff development activities.

I have two college-age sons, Adam and Joey.
Hobbies: I love the Motown sound (listening to rhythm and blues music), listening to unabridged books on tape, collecting African American picture books, and going to movies.

What I think about the Teaching Fellows: No doubt, one of my greatest joys in being at UNCG is working with the Teaching Fellows. I have had a wonderful opportunity in leading (through seminar) the juniors. Gently nudging them to reach another level – challenging their dispositions - in their preparation to teach is quite daunting, at times. Nevertheless, my interactions with them encourage me to become an even better teacher/professor.

Notes

I received a BS in Business Administration from Christopher Newport College in Newport News, VA. and a Masters of Business Administration from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. When my husband retired from the Air Force in 1997, we returned to the Greensboro area (my hometown). Since returning to Greensboro, I have worked at Pilot Elementary School. In 1999, I went to work in the Financial Aid office at Randolph Community College before coming to UNCG in April 2001.

Here at UNCG, I worked for over four years as an advisor in Student Academic Services and taught UNS 101, which is a course for freshmen to help them make the transition from high school to college. May 2005, I moved to my current position working as an advisor in the School of Education and working with the Teaching Fellows program. I love teaching and working with the students here at UNCG!!!

I am truly blessed to be married to Robert Cline for over 30 years. I have 2 wonderful sons (Scott and Paul) and an awesome daughter-in-law (Leslie). I became a grandma in late April 2009 and my grand-son is just beyond fabulous (really)!!! I also have a grand-dog named “Chesty” & a grand-cat named “Charlie”!!

My interests include: reading, watching weather & house hunting shows on TV, and watching/going to see the UNC-CH Tar Heels play any sport!!! Go Spartans & Go Heels!!!!!!

Notes

Originally I moved here from Horry County South Carolina in 1998 where I worked with the Solicitor's Office as a paralegal in Criminal Law. I am married to Jeff Jones who is an aircraft mechanic for Cessna Aircraft. My children consist of 7 cats and 2 dogs. I also rescue feral cats and try my best to stop the feral cat population in our neighborhood.

I came on board with the Teaching Fellows in January 2006 and have enjoyed my position immensely. I look forward to a wonderful rewarding career with the School of Education/Teaching Fellows Program.
