Newbery Medal and Honor Books, 1922-Present

This award goes to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

Caldecott Medal and Honor Books, 1938-Present

This award goes to the illustrator of the most distinguished American picture book for children, published in the past year.

Corretta Scott King Book Award

This award is given to African American authors and illustrators of books for children, published in the past year.

Michael L. Printz Book Award

This award is given to the author whose book published in the last year displays literary excellence in young adult literature.

Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12, 1996-Present

These books were selected as outstanding children's science trade books by the National Science Teachers Association.

The Pura Belpré Award, 1996-Present

This award is given to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work portrays the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

Robert F. Sibert Medal Winners and Honor Books
2001-Present

This award goes to author(s) and illustrator(s) of nonfiction books published in English in the past year.

ALA's Notable Children's Books Award

This award list is given to the best childrens' books published in the proceeding year.

YALSA's Best Books for Young Adults

These books are quality literature recommended for ages 12-18.
