Staff Perks
UNCG employees have a variety of benefits and opportunities, or "perks," available to them as members of a large academic community. In addition to retirement, health insurance and leave benefits, UNCG employees can take advantage of the following:
Cultural Events
Discounts & Services
- Human Resource Services—When possible, stop by the HRS reception area in Mossman. They often have discounts or coupons available. Though they vary from week to week, these can include restaurants, shops, services or even amusement parks.
- State Employees Association of North Carolina—Membership includes a variety of discount offers.
- UNCG Alumni—Staff who are also UNCG Alumni should consider joining the Alumni Association. A variety of discounts and opportunities are available to Association members.
- WeSave—With the WeSave program, the Office of State Personnel offers discounted products and services to all active and retired state employees. Presently, over 900 merchants participate in the State Employees Discount Program. The WeSave card and brochure were sent to all University employees earlier this year. Activiate the card to see participating merchants.
Education & Learning
- Division of Continual Learning—DCL offers several programs and courses (both credit and non-credit) to UNCG students, faculty, staff and the general public.
- Educational Assistance—Contact the Benefits Office for more information
- Explorations—An opportunity for staff to take undergraduate-level courses for personal enrichment or professional knowledge. The $20 application fee is waived for staff—be sure to let them know that your are a staff member when you submit the application.
- Library—University employees may use their FirstCard to borrow books from the Jackson Library's general stacks. Books loans are for 3 weeks. Staff are also eligible to borrow from other academic libraries.
- Tuition Waiver
- Visions—An opportunity for staff and faculty to take courses for a variety of reasons, including personal enrichment, professional knowledge, or renewal of teacher licensure. The $20 application fee is waived for faculty and staff—be sure to use a paper application rather than the online system.
Entertainment
- Teaching & Learning Center—With their UNCG ID card, staff may borrow VHS tapes or DVDs free for 1 week. Learn more and browse the video catalog online.
- Discounts available from the Greensboro Coliseum for a variety of shows and events. When purchasing tickets online via Ticketmaster, use the password: UNCG4905.
Financial
Health
- Health Services—Health Services has a variety of services that are also available to faculty and staff. These include, but are not limited to, pharmacy services, over-the-counter medications, flu shots, vaccines, and massage therapy. For more information, visit their website or call 334-334-5340.
- Recreation/Exercise—The Student Recreation Center offers a membership option for staff (and their spouses). In addition, the SRC is open to families on Friday evenings from 5pm through closing and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The Rosenthal Pool is included.

Admission policy and fees
Golf course—Available for students, faculty and staff with a UNCG ID card. The course is open 8am to 6pm. If you do not own clubs, the Recreation Center has a few available for check out. Stop by the Main Desk in the Recreation Center.
Piney Lake—Seasonal membership available for individuals ($40) or families ($70)

- Athletic Events—Discounted tickets are available for intercollegiate athletic events using the Faculty/Staff Athletics Pass (see "Ticket Info")
