FSU Boys and Girls Club IT Mentoring Program

The College of Information at FSU has developed a Boys and Girls Club IT mentoring program as part of its emerging BPC efforts. The local Big Bend chapter serves 13 Florida counties and approximately 1300 middle and high school students.

The program will begin in the Fall 2005 and center around four primary activities:
  1. Mentoring - Select juniors and seniors at the College of Information will mentor 1-3 Boys and Girls Club members in the general area of IT, potential IT careers, and post-secondary education.
  2. IT degree and career presentations - The College of Information at FSU will also provide 3-5 IT degree and career presentations at the Tallahassee, FL Boys and Girls central office.
  3. FSU IT tours - FSU students and faculty will conduct approximately five group tours of 20-30 students and their parents from the Boys and Girls Club with an IT centric tour of FSU's facilities.
  4. College of Information/Computer Science Open House - Each academic semester a technology open house will be held for approximately 300-500 Boys and Girls Club students and their parents at the College of Information at FSU.
