STARS Alliance Celebration 2008 a Success!!

The third annual STARS Alliance Celebration and STARS Leadership Corps (SLC) workshop was held from August 10-13 on the campus of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.

The event celebrated the success of the second year of the Alliance and provided an energetic start to the third year of the organization's commitment to broadening participation in Computing and Information technology across the United States. The Celebration included STARS members and guests representing over 20 colleges and universities as well as members of the EL Alliance and the A4RC who joined efforts to provide a truly exceptional experience of training and professional camaraderie for all who participated.

Student participation included a judged poster competition highlighting leadership projects undertaken by their SLC programs. Each winning poster was awarded a $100 cash prize. See Poster Session Awards!

In addition, the conference offered numerous opportunities for training sessions, spanning such topics as Leadership, Technical Excellence, Web Development, and Community Outreach as well as workshops featuring Culturally Situated Design Tools, Mentoring Programs, and Assistive Technology, just to name a few.

The conference ended with the awarding of $1000 to NC State by Dr. Nate Thomas. Plan to attend next year's Celebration!
