The first inaugural STARS Alliance celebration and STARS Leadership Corps (SLC) workshop was held from August 7th-11th on the campus of Georgia Tech and attended by over 150 students, faculty, and staff representing each of the ten participating universities.

The event was held to both celebrate the founding of our new Alliance and also to begin laying out the plan for how to best go about broadening participation in computing and technology across the southeastern United States.

The original steering committee members also came together to plan for launching broadening participation in computing efforts strategically at alliance member sites during the 06-07 academic year. These efforts will take place simultaneously across five states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Vermont) involving ten universities: UNC Charlotte, Auburn, Florida A&M, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Landmark College, Meredith College, North Carolina State, Spelman College and the University of South Florida-Lakeland.
