Spring Break 2001 Missions Trip
In early March, seven students
from the Baptist Student Union at UNC Greensboro spent their Spring Break
in Tarboro. Why? In September of 1999, Hurricane Floyd came
through North Carolina, causing catostophic flooding in areas such as Tarboro,
Princeville, Grifton, Rocky Mount, Greenville, Kinston, Goldsboro and other
towns in the eastern part of our state. Even before the hurricane
made landfall, Baptists were busing helping the victims through the Disaster
Relief Ministry of the North Carolina Baptist Men. A year and a half
later, we're still there, helping those affected rebuild their homes and
lives. We first went to Tarboro in March 2000 for a week of reconstructing.
Going back to be involved in this dynamic ministry was an easy decision.
This year, we spent our week painting and doing trimwork in two houses.
We had a lot a fun while helping those affected by this disaster.
