The GSA Senate is composed of representatives from the 45 graduate programs at UNCG. Every Director of Graduate study may appoint two representatives each academic year, preferably by delegating the selection process to that program's graduate students.
The Senate serves as an advisory body to the Executive Board, which consults the Senate and recieves advice on all matters of interest or importance to graduate students. Representatives inform the leadership of the needs and concerns of their constituent program members, and in turn inform their constituency of the actions of the GSA, conveying all forms of information, notice, or appeal that may come from the university via the GSA.
The Senate may also pass legeslative resolutions urging the university to policy or action, or make changes to the GSA's constitution and bylaws. Representatives are charged in these matters to act in the interests of all gradaute students to the best of their understanding. Each spring, the Senate elects the Executive Board for the following academic year.
