Our Mission
The purpose of S.A.L.S.A. shall be:
- To provide a place for Hispanic/Latino students at UNCG to come together and fellowship while learning about their heritage
- To enhance the UNCG community’s understanding of the Hispanic/Latino culture
- To render outside service to Hispanics/Latinos living the Greensboro/Triad area
Our History
S.A.L.S.A. was founded in the spring of 1992 with five original members:
- Andy Jakab, President (from Colombia)
- Marisa Taylor, Vice-President (from Texas)
- Patrica Arriagada, Treasurer (from Chile)
- Monica Marin, Publicity (from Panama)
- Tania Castillero, Secretary (from Panama)
In 1995, S.A.L.S.A. won the UNCG Human Relations Award for Outstanding Service to Community presented by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
