Doug Hewitt

Doug Hewitt is an author of speculative fiction.  He was born and raised in Mt. Clemens , Michigan , and after a stint in the Marine Corps, moved to North Carolina , where he began his writing career.  With over 60 short stories in print, Doug has published in the horror, fantasy, and science fiction genres.  He has been published in anthologies such as Maelstrom, The Dead Inn, and 100 Wicked Little Witch Stories.

At Stellarcon 29, the premier issue of Apex Digest debuted.  Apex Digest features one of Doug’s favorite stories, A Place In The Sun.  Apex Digest features science fiction stories that are dark in nature, with a blend of horror, which is right up Doug’s alley.  Not quite in time for Stellarcon 29, Doug’s chapbook Slipstream was published by Scrybe Press.  The anthology Bleed My Heart Romantic with his short story Type B Breakout is set to be released by Rage Machine Books for Stellarcon 30.  Doug hopes to have additional releases ready for the conference, including a story in the highly acclaimed magazine The Book Of Dark Wisdom.

In addition to short stories, Doug has written several novels.  He had his first novel published in 2002 by Sands Publishing.  SPEAR is a suspense thriller that received excellent reviews.  The Midwest Book Review calls SPEAR an “exciting, multilayered, and ultimately deadly saga.” Doug’s agent is currently hard at work trying to find homes for his other writing projects, most notably The Dead Guy, in which the protagonist is facing a murder investigation with an immense problem.  He’s not only the investigator, he’s also the victim and most noticeably dead!

Doug has recently signed a contract to make many of his best published stories available on the Internet.  These reprints, including the original version of SPEAR, will be available at www.fictionwise.com.
