In the fall of 1998, Gamma Chapter Founders Marsha Bailey and Danielle Ellis were interested in finding a sisterhood unlike any other on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. When members of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated, held an information session on campus, Marsha and Danielle knew they had found what they were looking for. After proving themselves to be strong and dedicated women, Marsha and Danielle became the first Theta Women on UNCG’s campus. Thus the Gamma Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated was founded on April 21, 1999.
Even though the Gamma Chapter founders would both be graduating soon after they became members of our extraordinary organization, they were committed to making Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated, a strong force at UNCG.
Convinced that this unique sisterhood could flourish at UNCG, the national organization held more interest meetings and, with the help of graduate student Shannon Stewart, found five more women committed to founding a multicultural sisterhood on campus.
Karla Rodriguez, Annisha Peets, Nicole Borne, Stephanie Cuadrado, Tahira Nyabinghi, and Shannon Stewart were initiated in the Spring of 2000.
The dedication of these eight women, and their respect for diversity laid the foundation for and ensured the commanding presence of the Legendary Ladies of the Distinguished Gamma Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Incorporated, UNC-Greensboro.
