Mission
The mission of the CARS department is to provide excellent undergraduate and graduate education [in consumer, apparel, and retailing studies], produce relevant scholarship that contributes to our discipline’s knowledge base, and impact the well being of individuals and the community.
Goals
Enhance UG curricular offerings
- Infuse global/multicultural/diversity competencies throughout curricular offerings.
- Incorporate the use of appropriate technology in instruction and learning
- Develop articulation agreements with appropriate institutions to facilitate achieving department mission
- Enhance internship and co-op program opportunities
- Enhance student enrichment opportunities (e.g., study abroad, international exchange programs, domestic study trips)
Recruitment
- Engage in recruitment activities to increase enrollment in both undergraduate and graduate programs
Faculty
- Recruit, develop, promote, and reward faculty whose goals and career aspirations are consistent with the mission of the CARS department
Development
- Maintain an infrastructure which supports the department’s mission and goals
- Increase the number of UG and G scholarships, fellowships, and awards
Scholarship
