Overview of Academic Programs

The Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies Department (CARS) offers Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Education (MEd), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.

CARS offers the following concentrations or specializations for its degrees:

  • Apparel Products Design – prepares students for careers in apparel and textile products design and production.

  • Retailing and Consumer Studies – prepares students for careers in apparel marketing, distribution, and retailing.

These concentrations prepare students for positions with companies who focus on the development, design or marketing strategies in the soft goods chain or textile related industries.

In addition, the CARS graduate program uses course work and research to integrate the social sciences, business and economics, humanities and the natural sciences and relate these areas of study to textile products.
