Overview of Academic Programs

The Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies Department (CARS) offers Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Education (MEd), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.

CARS offers the following undergraduate concentrations:

  • Apparel Product Design – prepares students for careers in apparel and textile products design and production.

  • Retailing and Consumer Studies – prepares students for careers in apparel marketing, distribution, and retailing.

  • Global Apparel and Related Industry Studies – prepares students for careers in apparel marketing, distribution, and retailing.

These concentrations prepare students for positions with companies that focus on the development, design, marketing or retailing of soft goods in apparel and textile related industries globally.

The CARS graduate program uses course work and research to integrate the social sciences, business and economics, humanities and the natural sciences and relate these areas of study to the production, distribution, and consumption of apparel and textile products in the global arena.
