Ann Ramsey is a lecturer in the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Products Design and her Masters degree in Textile Products Marketing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Ramsey’s teaching focus is on apparel product development and preparing students for employment in the areas of design, product development, trend analysis, technical design and merchandising within the apparel industry. Her scholarship focus is on mass customization, consumer behavior, the historical significance of colors and symbols in clergy apparel, and computer aided design and embroidery techniques that allow customization and personalization of virtually any fabric product. She is currently focusing on new fabric printing and appliqué technologies that meet the needs of small businesses.
Ramsey serves as the Master Advisor for the Consumer, Apparel & Retail Studies Department. Her responsibilities include: assigning all CARS students to a faculty advisor, completing and updating advising notebooks, setting advising dates for the CARS department, and determining course substitutions for students. She also serves as the CARS department representative for Jackson Library and on the CARS Website committee. In addition, her areas of service to the university include the School of Human Environmental Sciences Technology Committee, and SOAR (Spartan Orientation, Advising and Registration). She also serves as the American Apparel and Footwear (AAFA) representative for UNCG on the Human Resources Leadership Council, including the subcommittee of Education. She is a member of the International Textile and Apparel Association and has served as an article reviewer for the Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists and the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal.
