Praxis I Requirements

Candidates who do not have the required overall GPA may be eligible for admission if they have a 3.0 GPA in their major, senior year or 15 semester hours of coursework completed after receiving a bachelor’s degree, and passing scores on the Praxis I teaching exam. To register for Praxis I, please visit the InfoNow website. Additional registration may be obtained by calling 1-800-772-9476 or visiting the Praxis links listed below. Those who are hearing impaired can call TTY 1-800-275-1391. Praxis registration bulletins are also available at the Student Advising and Recruitment Center, 341 Curry, 336-334-3410, and the Counseling and Testing Center of the Gove Health Center on campus, 336-334-5874.

Praxis II Requirements

Candidates for teaching licensure who complete an alternative licensure preparation program are required to earn passing scores on the Praxis II specialty area exam in their licensure area.

Testing Locations

UNCG:Written tests are given at the UNCG Counseling and Testing Center in the Gove Health Center.
ProMetrics: A computerized version of the test may be scheduled by calling: Greensboro, 336-854-4230; Elsewhere, 1-800-853-6773.

Test results are available four to six weeks after the exam is taken. Candidates should save the original score report.
