Debra P. Holmes

MFA Design

Debra is THE third year graduate student in design focusing on scenery and puppets. She earned her BA in May 2005 from UNC-Asheville after receiving her AA from Asheville Buncombe Tech. She has also attended Appalachian State back in the day. Her family accompanied her on this graduate school adventure and she is grateful for their support. Come April 10th, 2008 she will have been married for *20* years to the love of her life, Bryan. You might see Chris, her son, around as he continues his own college adventure as a sophomore here at UNC Greensboro in the computer sciences department. Her daughter is attending Weaver Academy (the area’s arts high school) where she is also a sophomore and is studying drama. Debra is very proud of her children’s accomplishments! Recent theatre activities include scenery and puppets for Jack and the Wonder Beans, the NCTYP tour show. Over the summer she lived in Manteo, NC and worked as the assistant prop master for The Lost Colony and prop master for South Pacific. She designed costumes for Morticians in Love with Theatre 232 at Triad Stage and designing the set for The Miss Firecracker Contest at Greensboro's City Arts last summer. She also assisted Randy McMullen on designs for Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, Charlotte's Web and Death and the King's Horseman during the 2005-06 season. This season she’s very excited to be designing costumes for The Taste of Sunrise, lights for Love's Fire, and costumes and scenery for Tales of the Lost Formicans.
