Jeffery West
Jeffery West is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, has a Master of Fine Arts from the University
of Virginia, and has been a professional actor for 34 years. He has appeared in films, on television,
and on the stage both regionally and in New York where he lived for nine years. His voice work
includes both narration and commercial work and radio newscasting. On television, he has been seen on NBC's serial Surface, the Knowledge series,
One Tree Hill, on Dawson's Creek, as well as on the daytime dramas All My Children and The Guiding Light.
On film, he has played supporting roles in The Dangerous Lives of Altarboys, Brookfield, and danced at the
Waldorf Astoria Ballroom in Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanors. On stage he has appeared with Triad Stage,
the PlayMakers Repertory Company, Manbites Dog Theater, the Cape Fear Regional Theatre, the North Carolina
Theatre, the Virginia Shakespeare Festival, and the Asolo Theatre, among others. Most recently, he made his
debut at Triad Stage in On Golden Pond and appeared as Roy Cohn as a Guest Artist at Duke in Jeff Storer's
acclaimed production of Angels in America: Millenium Approaches. In the spring of 1994, he appeared with Judd
Hirsch and Eva Marie Saint in Death of a Salesman at PRC. Triangle audiences have also seen him as Austin in
True West at PRC, as Uncle Louie in Lost in Yonkers at Cape Fear Regional Theatre, and as John Proctor in The
Crucible as a guest artist at Meredith College. He is probably best known to Triangle audiences for his
critically acclaimed one-man play The Night Before Christmas Carol where he played Charles Dickens and more
than a dozen characters from the famous story. He appeared as Uncle Peck in the regional premiere of the
Pulitzer Prize winning drama How I Learned to Drive for Manbites Dog Theater, and as Dr. Sloper in NC State
University's production of The Heiress. He directed The Importance of Being Earnest , Arcadia, Our Country's
Good and Trust for the Duke Department of Theater Studies, and produced the critically-acclaimed musical of
Lee Smith's The Devil's Dream for REP. He also directed the dramatics for Southpeak Interactive's first CD
ROM game Temujin, and directed and produced two monologues for the North Carolina Museum of History in their
Health and Healing exhibit. For four seasons he served as the Artistic Director of the Raleigh Ensemble
Players. He is the former Chair of the Professional Division of the North Carolina Theatre Conference and is
a member of Actor's Equity Association and the Screen Actor's Guild. He is the past President of the Triangle
Network of Theatres and teaches privately around the state. He also served as President of the Board of Even
Exchange Dance Theatre. He has hosted many Triangle area events including the national Heartstrings tour,
Pieces of Gold, and the 1997 Pops in the Park concert. He is married to actress and Voice and Dialects coach
Christine Morris. He has taught at UNC Chapel Hill, St. Mary's College, Peace College, for REP, and was, for
13 years, a Senior Lecturing Fellow with the Department of Theater Studies at Duke University. He is currently
teaching at Elon University and at Greensboro College as well as UNCG.
