Bob Hansen

Bob teaches in the areas of theatre history, dramatic literature, non-western theatre, musical theatre, and design. Bob has his B.A. in Theatre and English from the University of Minnesota, Morris; a master's degree from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He is the author of "Scenic and Costume Design for the Ballets Russes" (published by UMI Research Press), and has written articles and reviews that have appeared in Southern Theatre, Theatre Crafts, and Theatre Design and Technology. Currently he is working on a biography of 19th cenutry actor William Davidge. Prior to joining the faculty at UNCG in 1986 he taught at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where he chaired the theatre department and served as managing director of the Huron Playhouse.
For twelve years, he was head of the Communication and Theatre and Broadcasting/Cinema and Theatre departments. Presently, he is serving as an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Science where his responsbilities include curriculum and teaching, Freshman Seminars, and the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program. Bob has served as an officer in the North Carolina Theatre Association, USITT-Ohio, the American Theatre Association, the Southeastern Theatre Conference, and the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
