Personal profiles give each member of an online course an opportunity to share information about themselves. Having students post and respond to personal profiles to learn about each other can facilitate the development of a sense of community in an online course.

Promoting Collaboration with Wikis
Today’s learners expect more than online lectures or one-way communications in distance courses. Activities that promote interaction and collaboration with their peers are becoming a fundamental part of how students learn. Within a wiki, learners possessing little or no knowledge of HTML can collaboratively use, create and modify web content. In this brief hybrid workshop, we’ll explore the different ways you can use wikis to promote collaboration in an online course.

Online Collaboration - Strategies for Effectively Completing Group Assignments
Thelma King presents strategies that can be used when completing group assignments in the on-line environment. A major challenge expressed by on-line students is that they don't like team work because all members don't pull their weight. They feel it is easier to complete the assignment alone. The activities and e-clip will provide strategies for smoother group collaboration on-line.
