Guidelines for Faculty Instructional Development Mini-Grant Proposals
Purpose:
These grants assist faculty in their instructional development. Projects and activities include, but are not limited to, attendance at a faculty development seminar; travel support for observation of teaching practices at another institution or for observation of discipline-related practices in business, industry, or the arts; and purchase of teaching or learning materials.
Amount:
The amount of the grant may be up to $300.00. Grants must be matched (dollar for dollar) by some other source or by the applicant. Grant funds must be expended within the fiscal year in which they are awarded.
Eligibility:
Full-time faculty may apply. Grants will be limited to one per academic year per faculty member. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received mini-grants.
Application:
- Proposals should be submitted on the appropriate form and should describe the:
- need to be addressed
- nature of the proposed activity or project
- impact of the proposed activity on instructional development
- total estimated cost of the proposed activity or project
- The source of matching funds must be identified and confirmed.
- There will be four rounds of applications--two in the fall and two in the spring. The deadlines are as follows:
- Round 1, Monday of the first full week in October
- Round 2, Monday of the first full week in December
- Round 3, Friday of the second full week in January
- Round 4, Monday of the first full week in March.

- Grant announcements will be made one week after each deadline. Proposals not funded in a particular round may be resubmitted.

Reporting:
A short report, not to exceed one page, and copies of proof of expenditures must be submitted to the Teaching and Learning Center before the end of the fiscal year.
