Gifts Procedures
The University Teaching & Learning Center’s Media Services Unit welcomes gifts of educational DVDs. Gifts may be directed to the Media Services Coordinator. The Coordinator can be reached at 334-5310, cathy_rothermel@uncg.edu, or 61 McIver Building.
Acceptance of Gifts
The following stipulations apply when donating gifts:
- All gifts become the property of the University Teaching & Learning Center (UTLC).
- The UTLC reserves the right to determine whether the gift will be added to the Media Services collection, where is will be located, and how it will be made accessible.
- The UTLC reserves the right to dispose of inappropriate or duplicate gift items through university approved guidelines.
Income Tax Deductions
Gifts of audio-visuals usually qualify as an income tax deduction. However, by law, the UTLC cannot appraise gifts. The responsibility for establishing a fair market value of a gift lies with the donor. A letter of acknowledgement for the receipt of gifts will be sent upon the request of the donor. The letter does not include dollar values. It is the only record of the gift that the UTLC can provide.
