The purpose of this page is to provide information about UNCG's policies and procedures, answers to frequently asked legal questions, and links to other sources of legal and governmental information.
The UNCG University Counsel's Office mission is, first and foremost, to provide timely and accurate legal advice and information to University administrators, faculty and staff. As a leading student-centered university, UNCG employs its Counsel to foster a legal environment in which all members of the University community may learn, live and work in an atmosphere of mutual respect and nondiscrimination. The UNCG University Counsel's Office further supports the University's educational mission through articles and presentations on legal topics of interest to the University community. Finally, the UNCG University Counsel's Office helps the University link the Piedmont-Triad to the world through outreach activities including service to professional and public organizations at the local, state and national levels and through its world wide web site.
University Counsel does not provide legal assistance to students, but may provide general information about the legal system and referrals to legal aid resources such as Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. Greensboro Office (the legal aid office serving the Triad area, phone 272-0148).
