Sophomore wrestler Mikal McKee won the 184 pound SoCon championship. Senior Chris Bencivenga, SoCon regular season Co-Wrestler of the Year, finished second at 141 pounds. Both qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Sophomore guard Monique Floyd was SoCon Defensive Basketball Player of the Year. She amassed 49 steals.
Freshman forward Damian Eargle was named to the SoCon’s All-Freshman basketball squad. He led the league in blocked shots with 57. He scored 25 points in a game against Appalachian State, the most scored by a UNCG freshman in 18 years.
Junior pitcher Rob Gilliam led the SoCon in opposing batting average, with hitters batting a meager .224 against him. He struck out a league-high 35 batters looking, on called third strikes. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics.
