1970 Warren Ashby Residential College
In the last issue, we celebrated Ashby Residential College's 40th birthday. Be sure to check the letters to the editor to see Betty Rogers' memories of that time. Now look at the picture below. It just goes to show you never know what you're going to learn when you're in college. Here, Barbara Grant relaxes in a roomful of furniture made completely of cardboard. Yes, you read that right cardboard. The furniture was made by students in an advanced design course in 1977 and put on display in Elliott University Center. Check out the finer details, from the tea set on the coffee table to the decorative items on the bookshelf. That begs the question what did you learn in class that you never expected? Or what do you think was the most valuable thing you learned at UNCG?
