September 2007
The powerful combination of businesses and universities will be the topic of the day Oct. 23 at the second annual UNCG Business Summit (formerly the Corporate Expo).
David J. Bronczek, president and CEO of Memphis-based FedEx Express, will be the keynote speaker. FedEx Express is the unit that will operate the FedEx hub at Piedmont Triad International Airport. The hub is scheduled to open in 2009. FedEx Express is the world's largest express transportation company.
A native of Cleveland, Bronczek assumed his current position in 2000 after serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company. He also serves on the Senior Management Committee for FedEx Corporation.
In addition to Bronczek's speech, the summit will include a business solutions forum moderated by Doug Copeland, publisher of The Business Journal of the Triad. The forum, featuring representatives from Duke Energy, Steven D. Bell & Co., Syngenta and Tyco Electronics will highlight collaborations between UNCG and the corporate community.
The lunch topic will be “How Universities in North Carolina Are Answering the Call for Economic Development.”
The day begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs through 1:30 p.m. at Elliott University Center. The cost to attend the summit is $25, and complete information and on-line registration will be available from Susan_Larson@uncg.edu.
