August 2009
Folks affiliated with the Bryan School of Business and Economics will gather for some not-so-serious business Sept. 19.
The school's Alumni Association will host the 16th annual Bryan School Golf Tournament at Bryan Park, 6275 Bryan Park Road, Greensboro. Registration for the event is $50 for students and $60 for non-students through Aug. 31. Registration can be completed online at bryanschool.uncg.edu.
More will be on the line than just bragging rights with this year's tournament. Proceeds from the event will help endow the new Bryan School Alumni Association scholarship, an award created this year to assist undergraduate and graduate students with educational expenses.
As funding for scholarships continues to dwindle in our current economic times, our future fellow alumni need our help to ensure they are provided the educational and leadership opportunities necessary to mold our Bryan School students into the future leaders of our community, said Joy Munns, president of the Bryan School alumni association. With our participation in the Bryan School Golf Tournament and Bryan School Alumni Scholarship, we can help those students' aspirations become a reality.
The scholarship, awarded primarily for academic merit and leadership abilities, may also be used as a grant to allow a student to participate in an activity that develops leadership potential. The Bryan School Alumni Association plans to award the first scholarship this fall.
