Spartan spot

We all know the Greensboro Coliseum is the place to be on game nights. But there's a special section in the coliseum designed to make game nights even more fun.

The Spartan Spot, located behind the goal, provides a space where it's easy to mingle with friends or network with colleagues. Arena seating has been taken out and replaced with semi-circle cocktail tables and two bars give patrons a chance to purchase beverages without ever leaving the area.

The best part? Tickets are only $5.

The Bryan School reserved the spot for the first home game of the season against Clemson.

“They had a blast,” said Terri Relos with University Advancement. “I looked over and thought, ‘Wow — that looks like so much fun.’ It's a little party spot.”

Several alumni groups have already reserved the Spartan Spot for future games. HHP alumni have the section for the Dec. 31 match-up with NC State. The Class of 1960 will enjoy the spot Jan. 3 during the game against Maryland. The Piedmont Alumni Club will take over the section Feb. 8 while the Spartans play Appalachian, and the Class of 2005 will come together Feb. 15 to cheer the team in its match against Western Carolina.

If you are a member of any of those alumni groups, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (336) 334-5696 or email to purchase a ticket.

If you're not a member of one of those alumni groups, you might want to consider getting a group together and reserving the space. The Spartan Spot is still available for at least two more games this year. If you are interested in reserving the space, contact Terri Relos at (336) 256-2013 or email
