August 2010
Female athletes have always been a strong presence on campus. In October, UNCG will honor a decade of these women in sport.
Athletes who played on teams from 1981-91 are invited back for a packed weekend of celebrating their contributions and seeing how our teams are doing today.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, attendees will be treated to a reception in the HHP Auxiliary Gym, followed by cheering on our volleyball team as they battle it out against the College of Charleston in Fleming Gym. The evening will wrap up with an alumnae social at Natty Greene's.
Saturday begins with a mid-morning round table discussion with Athletic Director Kim Record. Coaches and student-athletes will also be on hand to answer questions.
Then enjoy a trip down memory lane at the Celebration of Women in Sport luncheon. Attendees are encouraged to bring memorabilia to display on Memory Tables. A presentation will include medallions to student-athletes from the fall of 1982 to spring 1991 and an opportunity to meet the 2010-11 recipient of the Celebration of Women in Sport Endowment.
The rest of the day can be spent enjoying campus tours, watching open practices and enjoying a pregame social before the volleyball team takes on the Citadel. End the day with a social at the Proximity Hotel.
Finally, enjoy a Sunday morning brunch in the Virginia Dare Room before heading home.
Cost for the weekend is $50 for athletic alumnae, $35 for adult guests and $20 for children ages 7-13. The fees include all events for the weekend. Click here to register
