Best of the best

Know someone who deserves UNCG's highest honor? How about an alumnus who's making a difference? Consider nominating them for one of the university's high-profile awards so they can receive some well-deserved recognition.

The Charles Duncan McIver Award recognizes North Carolinians with regional and national prominence for their distinguished public service. The Adelaide F. Holderness/H. Michael Weaver Award recognizes North Carolinians whose distinguished public service consistently serves their local region.

The nomination deadline for both awards is Oct. 29. Read more about the awards and submit a nomination at www.uncg.edu/ure/publicservice.

Each year the UNCG Alumni Association recognizes as many as two outstanding alumni who have exemplified the university's “service” motto — whether in their profession, community or university — for the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. The impact can be local or it can be at the state or national level.

In addition to making a difference, the recipient(s) must “exemplify creative and continuous personal growth and a willingness to embrace our changing world.”

The Young Alumni Award is given to an alumnus 40 years old or younger who has made exceptional achievements and significant contributions to their profession, community or university.

The winner should exemplify outstanding professional and personal development either through traditional channels or innovative approaches.
