September 2011

Remembering recent history

Last weekend, assistant art professor Sheryl Oring and several typists sat in Manhattan's Bryan Park, typing responses to the simple question: “What do you want the world to remember about 9/11?” Read more about the project at University News.

Art appreciation

You're invited to be one of the first to see the portrait painting of the Alumni House created by artist Bill Mangum '75, '83 MFA. Read more about the painting and the Around the House event where it will be shown for the first time.

Increase the impact of your internet applications

Are you satisfied with the response to your internet job applications? You do lots of them. You copy and paste, fill out endless questionnaires, set up job alerts and send them off. But let's stop there. You are competing with tons of people when you're using the internet, so give yourself every break you can. Read more from Kathleen Martinek, former UNCG alumni career counselor.

Alumni Association Announcements & Upcoming Events

Consider helping a student learn how to network during the Oct. 18 Schmooza Palooza. Also, mark your calendar for all the upcoming “Around the House” events. Learn about these events and more.
