Connections matter! Building a career development network for Spartans

Career development for UNCG students and recent graduates is a process that includes not only the Career Services Center team members, but also alumni like you. Students want to hear back from those who have “been there, done that” and to understand what the real career situation is like in industry and career functions. Have you ever wondered what you can do to help current students or give back your time to the university? Now that we have revamped many of our services and resources, there are numerous opportunities for you to partner with our office.

ExploreIt! Job Shadowing Program: Job shadowing is an excellent concept to expose students to “a day in the life” of professionals from all industries. This program is scheduled once a year and lasts for up to one week. Students will be partnered with program employers who will design a shadowing experience that will both promote their industry and provide real-life information to students about potential careers. This program is available each year during Spring Break. For more information, or to add your organization to the roster, please contact Katy Green at

Connect us with your HR Team! Help build the UNCG brand and promote your fellow UNCG candidates to your organization. Contact our Employer Relations Team at and a team member will reach out to your HR department shortly.

Host a Student Group: Our students are always interested in visiting a company's site for possible tours, meetings with key professionals, and to learn more about job functions and careers. This is a great way to promote your company and its opportunities to students at UNCG. Contact Sue Brien at with your interest.

Present on Campus: Alumni are our best resource when it comes to the real information about careers, industries, and how to succeed. We invite you to share your experience either through a web interview or on campus. Contact Dr. Patrick Madsen at for more information or to join our presenters list as a potential resource for our students.

Hire a Spartan! Working at a company that is looking for part time help, interns or full time employees? Think about UNCG. Register your company with SpartanCareers to start posting your position. Contact Sue Brien, Assistant Director of Employer Relations, at

As always, we value our partnership with Alumni Relations and you. Feel free to contact me if you have new and exciting ideas for the continued career development of our students!
