The Office of Orientation & Family Programs is thrilled to invite all Spartan families to attend an action-packed weekend on campus with their students. Enjoy a delicious picnic at Piney Lake, have brunch with Chancellor Brady, work out in our outstanding Student Recreation Center, take in a movie on the EUC West Lawn and so much more - it's all included with your registration! Family Weekend events take place Friday through Sunday, September 25-27. Take advantage of this special opportunity to reconnect, spend quality time together and enjoy the beauty and energy of UNCG. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
Family Weekend Check-in – Elliott University Center (EUC) Commons, 4:30- 7:30 p.m. Check-in and receive your Family Weekend materials.

Student Recreation Center Family Weekend Hours – 5-9 p.m.
Enjoy all the Student Recreation Center has to offer with your student.

Dedication of Spartan Statue – Between the Softball and Soccer Stadiums,
6 p.m.

Family Weekend Welcome Reception – Taylor Garden, 7-8:30 p.m.
Join us for this kick-off to Family Weekend! Connect with other parents, family members, and students as well as UNCG administrators and Parent & Family Advisory Council members.

Dinner and a Movie – EUC West Lawn, 8:30-10:30 p.m.
Rainsite: EUC Auditorium
Enjoy a movie under the stars on the EUC West Lawn.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
Family Weekend Check-in – EUC Commons, 9:00-11 a.m.
Check-in and receive your Family Weekend materials.

Student Recreation Center Family Weekend Hours – 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Enjoy all the Student Recreation Center has to offer with your student.

Chancellor’s Brunch – EUC Cone Ballroom, 10-11:30 a.m.
Join other Spartan families for brunch while you enjoy a program that includes music, remarks from UNCG’s Chancellor, and a keynote address.

Explore UNCG! – Various Locations, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Choose from a variety of programs and activities. There’s something for everyone!

Children’s Festival and Health Celebration – EUC West Lawn, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Enjoy this exciting children’s event sponsored by the UNCG School of Education and the North Carolina Teaching Fellows. This event offers more than 50 educational opportunities including games, inflatables, music, dancing, cheering, arts, and crafts.

Children’s Concert: Big Bang Boom
– EUC West Lawn, 11-1 p.m.

Kid’s College
– EUC Azalea Room, 11:45 a.m.
We invite all of our Family Weekend participants ages 4-12 to get crafty and participate in a pumpkin decorating contest and other fall craft projects. The pumpkins will be displayed at the Family Weekend tent in Spartan Village where all Family Weekend participants are invited to vote for their favorite pumpkin. The artist of the winning pumpkin will win a fabulous prize!

Historic UNCG Tour
– Departs from Jackson Library Steps, 11:45 a.m.
Take a stroll through campus and visit the first building erected to the most recent. (Take a stroll through campus and experience UNCG’s history firsthand, from the first building erected to the most recently completed project.) Hermann Trojanowski, Assistant University Archivist, takes you along for a historic look at points of interest on our beautiful campus. After the campus tour, Mr. Trojanowski will invite you to view current significant pieces on display at Jackson Library. In case of rain, Mr. Trojanowski will offer a slide presentation entitled “The Early History of UNCG and Campus Ghosts” in the Hodges Reading Room located on the 2nd floor of Jackson Library.

Spartan Scavenger Hunt – Departs from EUC, Auditorium Lobby, 11:45 a.m.
We invite all future Spartans and family members alike to enjoy this opportunity to explore the campus and discover the traditions of UNCG with a member of the Spartan Orientation Staff as your guide. Hang out with Minerva and unscramble the mysteries of the Spartan Scavenger Hunt. A prize awaits the winning team. This event is sure to be fun for all ages!

Family Weekend at Spartan Village
This outdoor festival features music, food and drink vendors, inflatables and more! You can use the five food and drink tickets included in your Family Weekend registration for hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones or other tasty treats. You will want to be sure to stop by the Parent & Family Programs tent to win fantastic Spartan prizes and vote on the best painted pumpkin from Kid’s College. Take time to enjoy all Spartan Village has to offer!

Men’s Soccer vs. Charlotte (*additional registration and fees required*) – 7 p.m. Watch the Spartans take on the Charlotte 49ers. Purchase your ticket through the Family Weekend registration site or at the gate (student admission is free).

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
Student Recreation Center Family Weekend Hours – 12-11 p.m.
Enjoy all the Student Recreation Center has to offer with your student.

Picnic at Piney Lake – Piney Lake Recreation Area, 4016 Blumenthal Road, 12- 2 p.m. Rain site: Student Recreation Center. Enjoy lunch and a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities with your student at Piney Lake Recreation Area. Piney Lake has a wide variety of activities to offer including disc golf, kayaking, canoeing, fishing (catch and release), volleyball, frisbee, horseshoes, swimming, and much more. Piney Lake encompasses 40 acres of beautiful park-like land and is located approximately eight miles from UNCG.
