Using the template - MAC Instructions
First, save the PowerPoint template from the web to the desktop:
1. Make sure your browser is set to have files save to the desktop:
- In Firefox, under the “File” drop-down menu, select “Preferences.” Select “Downloads” and select “Save all files to this folder.” Click on the “Browse” button and select “Desktop” on the left column, then click the upper left button to close.
- In Safari, under the “File” drop-down menu, select “Preferences.” In the “Save downloaded files to” button, select “Other” from the list. Select “Desktop” on the left column, then click the upper left button to close.
2. Click on the desired template image and select “Save To Disk.”
3. On the desktop, double-click the template file to open.
Design templates then can be created from the saved document:
1. Open the saved file from the desktop.
2. In PowerPoint, open the “File” drop-down menu and select “Save As.”
3. Choose “Design Template” from the “Format” field in the middle. The “Where” field above it then reads “My Templates.”
4. Click “Save.”
5. Drag the original downloaded PowerPoint file from the desktop to the “Recycle Bin” (trash) to prevent accidental changes to the set formats.
To use the new design template:
1. In PowerPoint, open the “File” drop-down menu and select “Open.”
2. On the “Enable” bar, select “Design Templates.” The “My Templates” folder bar will appear below.
3. Select the appropriate saved template.
4. In future uses, the design template can usually be accessed from the “Recently Used” area at the bottom of the “File” drop-down menu instead of “Open.”
