Stellarcon 29 Lands at the Greensboro Marriott March 11-13

By Sean Olson, University Relations

Greensboro is about to be invaded. Artists, authors and even media guests from another planet will run amuck in the Gate City – well, maybe not run amuck, but certainly convene.

Produced by the Science Fiction Fantasy Federation at UNCG, Stellarcon 29 is an annual science fiction and fantasy convention held this year at the Greensboro Marriott from March 11 to 13.

Registration is free for children younger than 6, $20 for ages 6 through 12 and $35 for adults. Registration is available at www.stellarcon.org or at the door. The conference will begin at 2 p.m. March 11 and at 9 a.m. on March 12 and 13.

This year’s program includes workshops and panel discussions such as “Stargate: the Next Star Trek?” and “Shakespeare in Fantasy and Horror,” charity and art auctions, gaming and movies, robot battles and a host of other events and special guests.

Guests for this year’s convention include:
• Lani Tupu, who plays Capt. Crais and the voice of Pilot on the television series “Farscape.”

• Janny Wurts, who wrote “The Cycle of Fire” trilogy, the “Wars of Light and Shadow Series” and “To Ride Hell’s Chasm.”

• Don Maitz, who is known for having drawn the Captain Morgan Spice Rum character and is the conceptual artist for “Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius.”

• Role playing game designer J.D. Wiker, who has worked on books such as “The Darkside Sourcebook” for the Star Wars role playing game and “d20 Future” for Wizards of the Coast.

For more information, call (336) 294-8041 or visit www.stellarcon.org or send an e-mail to stellarcon@yahoo.com.
