An MFA thesis
concert will consider the phases of life: childhood,
adolescence and adulthood.
Ginny Skinner Haynes, an MFA candidate, will perform
her thesis concert, “Phases,” at 8 p.m.
April 8 and 9 in the UNCG Dance Theatre on Walker
Avenue at Kenilworth Street. Admission is $10 for
the general public, $7 for seniors and children and
$5 for UNCG students.
The performance will depict the phases of life in
three parts: childhood, adolescence and adulthood
in six pieces. Haynes will perform “Loss of
Blood. Throwing Up Trees,” a piece choreographed
by NC School for the Arts faculty member Sean Sullivan.
She will also perform “On Again,” choreographed
by UNCG faculty member Gerri Houlihan, as well as
“Glass Panes.” Haynes choreographed three
of the pieces: “White Clouds of Imagination,”
“Infection: Pathway of Transformation”
and “Timid Love.”
Haynes is a performer, choreographer and teacher who
has been involved in dance for 22 years. She holds
a BFA in dance performance and choreography from Columbia
College in her native South Carolina and has worked
with Nicholas Leichter, Jan Van Dyke, B.J. Sullivan
and Sean Curran. She has performed with the Power
Company, a Columbia-based dance group, and has been
a guest artist with The Collective and John Gamble
Dance Theatre. She will graduate in May with her MFA
in dance performance and choreography from UNCG.
