UNCG will reflect on modern dance with a two-night performance.
“Reflections,” a collection of individual pieces by several artists, will be performed 8 p.m. Oct. 21 and 22 at the UNCG Dance Theatre, corner of Walker Avenue and Kenilworth Street. Tickets are $5 for UNCG students with ID, $7 for other students and seniors, and $10 general admission.
Originally performed in June at the Jack Guidone Theatre in Washington D.C. and to be presented in February at the Merce Cunningham Studio Theatre in New York, “Reflections” features two UNCG alumni and several guest artists.
• Heidi Echols Godfrey received her MFA degree from the dance department in 2000. She is an assistant professor and director of dance at Salem College. She will perform her work “Portraits of a Woman.”
• Amanda Kinzer also received her MFA degree from the dance department in 2000. She will present several works, including “Intersection,” a fast paced piece that features three performer dancing to electronic trance music. “Insecure Attachment” is a duet that explores unexpected encounters. Other pieces include “Dreamstate,” “Passage,” and a solo work set to the Alicia Terzian’s “Shantiniketan,” a solo flute and spoken poetry piece.
Guest artists include:
• Sara Miller, who will perform “Reflection”
• Camille DeSantis, an independent artist and teacher.
• Marilyn Marloff, associate professor and director of the dance program at Old Dominion University.
