Reception Celebrates Troublesome Creek Excavation Oct. 5

By , University Relations

The public and excavation volunteers are invited to an informal reception and discussion of the Historical Archaeological Field School at Troublesome Creek at 5 p.m. Oct. 5, Room 313, Graham Building, UNCG.

Assistant professor of anthropology Dr. Linda Stine, students and volunteers spent four-weeks this summer excavating colonial and Revolutionary War artifacts at the 50-acre site south of Reidsville in Rockingham County.

Gen. Nathanael Greene and his troops stopped there twice in 1781 while avoiding British Gen. Charles Cornwallis. UNCG and the Rockingham County Historical Society worked together on the excavation.

A campus map is available online. For more information, contact Stine at 336-256-1098.
