A UNCG professor has been selected to a state disability and health advisory council.
The North Carolina Division of Public Health Office on Disability and Health has invited Dr. Stuart J. Schleien to be a member of the North Carolina Disability and Health Advisory Council.
Schleien is a professor and department head of the Department of Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Management, which is part of the School of Health and Human Performance. As a licensed recreational therapist, his teaching and research have centered around, among other things, inclusive recreation and physical activity opportunities for children and adults with significant disabilities.
The North Carolina Disability and Health Advisory Council will meet quarterly and provide input to the Office on Disability and Health on program planning and the development of a new state plan. The first meeting of the advisory council was in Raleigh on March 30.
