Dr. John Rife
Dr. John Rife, chair of the social work department, has been named a Senior Scholar by the Council on Social Work Education.
The council, based in Alexandria, Va., recently created the National Center for Gerontological Social Work Education with funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation. Rife’s work as a Senior Scholar will focus on gerontology education.
A faculty member at UNCG since 1991, he has received the university’s Gladys Strawn Bullard Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service, and has received two School of Human Environmental Sciences Outstanding Teaching Awards.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Social Workers, North Carolina Chapter.
