Works by UNCG MFA Writing Program alums Quinn Dalton and Keith Morris are featured in the latest volume of "New Stories from the South."
Writers from the “New Stories from the South” are coming to UNCG.
Alan Gurganus, author of “The Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All,” will introduce MFA Writing Program alums Quinn Dalton and Keith Morris for a reading at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Faculty Center on College Avenue. The reading is free, open to the public and sponsored by the MFA Writing Program and the Greensboro Review. The reading will be followed by a reception, and celebrates the release of “New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2006.”
Dalton is the author of the novel “High Strung” and the short story collection “Bulletproof Girl.” Her work has appeared in “Sex and Sensibility,” “American Girls out on the Town” and other venues. Her story, “The Music You Never Hear,” is included in “New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2006.” She lives in Greensboro.
A native North Carolinian, Allan Gurganus’s works also include “White People” and “Plays Well with Others.” He is the guest editor of “New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2006.” He lives in North Carolina.
Keith Lee Morris is the author of the novel “The Greyhound Gods” and “The Best Seats in the House and Other Stories.” Morris’s short stories have appeared in a variety of literary journals and magazines including The Greensboro Review, New England Review, The Georgia Review, and Quarterly West. His story, “Tired Heart” is included in “New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best, 2006.” He is an associate professor of creative writing at Clemson University.
Dalton and Morris will give a short interview/reading on student radio, WUAG 103.1 FM at 5:30 p.m.
