Caldwell, who holds the Joe Rosenthal Excellence Professorship at the Bryan School of Business and Economics, will assume his new post Nov. 18 at the association’s annual meeting in Charleston, S.C. He had previously served as one of four elected members of the association’s board of trustees.
Dr. Christopher Ruhm, the Jefferson-Pilot Excellence Professor of Economics at the Bryan School, currently serves on the association’s board of trustees.
“It is indicative of the quality of our business and economics program at UNCG that two of our faculty members have become elected officials in this important organization,” said Caldwell.
The Southern Economics Association is one of the oldest regional economic associations in the United States. Comprised of scholars from a diversity of disciplines, the association promotes the education of scholars and the public in economic affairs and research in theoretical and applied economics.
